Dear Families, Friends, and Community Partners,
We are thrilled to share that SPAN Parent Advocacy Network has received our official Notice of Award from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) to continue serving as New Jersey’s Parent Training and Information Center (PTI)! This is a powerful affirmation of the work we do every day to support families of children and youth with disabilities across New Jersey.
We’re excited to share that our new PTI grant officially goes into effect on October 1, 2025, and the grant itself is contracted to continue for the next five years. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us, lifted us up, and believed in the importance of our ongoing work. Your encouragement helped make this possible and we can’t wait to continue empowering families and improving lives across the state!
But…we’re still navigating a shifting landscape.
While we celebrate this achievement for now, there are still uncertainties ahead with regard to the final outcome of the U.S. Department of Education FY 2026 Budget, which could include a significant structural change to how this program may be funded in the future.
So… while our PTI funding for the next fiscal year (through Sept. 30, 2026) feels solid, what happens beyond that remains unclear.
As always, we’re grateful to do this work – with and for families like yours and alongside the dedicated professionals and community partners who share our mission. Thanks for believing in us, standing by us, and letting us be part of your journey.
Here’s to the road ahead and navigating it together!
With gratitude,
Carolyn Hayer
Executive Director
